Notification of a specialist doctor who is starting work and moving to an establishment

An agreement was signed between specialist physicians and Iceland Health on 1 September 2023. The agreement states which documents must be submitted to Iceland Health to be registered on the contract.

If a doctor is starting work under the contract of specialist physicians and Iceland Health, and has not previously worked under the refund fee list, the following documents must be sent to Iceland Health along with the documents required by the contract:

• The Director of Health's confirmation that the doctor concerned meets the professional minimum requirements for the operation of the healthcare service that was reported (should be available before the operation begins).

• Confirmation of patient and professional liability insurance

• User agreement with Iceland Health for specialist doctors under Specialist physicians

Transfer to another establishment as well as operations in more than one establishment

If a doctor intends to move to another establishment and/or to add an establishment, the following information must be available before the person concerned starts working in a new place.

• The Director of Health's confirmation that the doctor concerned meets the professional minimum requirements for the operation of the healthcare service that was reported (should be available before the operation begins in the establishment where the doctor moves/improves his/her activities.

• Patient and voluntary insurance

• Request to Iceland Health for the purchase of services
