Physical therapist who are starting work

Physical therapists who are starting work must send the required documents to Iceland Health and receive confirmation from the institution before starting work. The documents are:

• Notice of independent operation

• Copy of the physiotherapist's accreditation

• Confirmation of patient insurance

• Confirmation of voluntary liability insurance

• The Director of Health confirms that the physiotherapist concerned meets the minimum professional requirements for the operation of the healthcare service that was reported (should be available before the operation begins)

• Checklist for physical therapists opening a new practice

• Agreement between Iceland Health and the user regarding connection to Iceland Health information system

Iceland Health assesses each application individually, that is whether it is considered that more physiotherapists are needed to work under the framework agreement in the relevant national area.

Transfer to another establishment

If a physiotherapist intends to move to another establishment, the following information must be available before the person concerned starts working in a new place.

• Notice of independent operation

• The Director of Health's confirmation that the physiotherapist concerned meets the professional minimum requirements for the operation of the healthcare service that was reported (should be available before the operation begins in the establishment where the physiotherapist moves his or her activities).

• Confirmation of voluntary liability insurance

• Confirmation of patient insurance

Iceland Health assesses each application individually, that is whether it is considered that more physiotherapists are needed to work under the framework agreement in the relevant national area.
