System error in permits to catch excess catches in blue whiting, mackerel and Norwegian-Icelandic herring
Under the Fisheries Management Act and regulations concerning fishing for blue whiting, mackerel and Norwegian-Icelandic herring, vessels are authorised to exceed 5% of its catch quota, which is deducted from next year's allocation.
In the Directorate´s of Fisheries systems, this authorisation is 10% instead of 5%. The Directorate of Fisheries will correct this error on Monday the 13th of November. and Operators with authorisations in these species are advised to monitor the change in their vessels catch quota status in these species and take appropriate measures. Vessels who will have excess catches due to this error will not be banned from fishing for that reason. The Directorate of Fisheries reaffirms, that the excess catch quota will be treated as illegal catch if the quota status is corrected by 15th of December.
