Respiratory tract infections. Weeks 51-52 in 2023
In a recent review the frequency of respiratory infections and hospitalizations due to them is reviewed and the situation in Iceland is compared to Europe.
Diagnoses of confirmed influenza and RSV have increased in recent weeks, while the number of diagnoses of COVID-19 has decreased. The number of admissions to Landspítala with/due to respiratory infections is increasing, and the percentage of those diagnosed with or during admission with RSV or influenza has increased.
In a new summary (Icelandic), the incidence of respiratory diseases in weeks 51 and 52 of 2023 is reviewed in more detail.
