People fleeing from Ukraine who want to receive protection in Iceland can now pre-register before arrival in Iceland.

The pre-registration will speed up the registration and processing of applications for protection and the allocation of an Icelandic ID, as well as ensuring that applicants get access to medicines and other health services necessary for them as soon as possible.

This project is a collaboration between the Directorate of Health, the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, the Directorate of Immigration and Registers Iceland and has been carried out with the assistance of Advania and Origo.

The Directorate of Immigration has also launched a webchat on the pre-registration website as well as on the Directorate's information page for Ukrainian citizens. The purpose of the chat is to improve access to information for people fleeing from Ukraine about their right to come to Iceland, their right to protection in Iceland and the rights that are included in the protection.

The webchat will be open on weekdays between 10:00 and 15:00. Outside this time it is possible to send in requests through the chat which will be answered by e-mail.
