Respiratory tract infections. Week 43 of 2023

A new review of the frequency of respiratory infections and hospitalizations in Iceland in autumn compares the situation in Europe.

The incidence of respiratory infections is stable and caused by different viruses. Considerably more patients had confirmed influenza at week 43 compared to the previous weeks, or 8 individuals. However, the pandemic flu has not started yet. Four were diagnosed with RSV. The most common causes of respiratory infections are previously rhinovirus and COVID-19.

The new report (Icelandic) gives a closer overview of the incidence of respiratory diseases in week 43 of 2023.
