The Municipality Ölfus officially became a member of the Health-Promoting Community (HSAM) on the 24th of May, when Sandra Dís Hafþórsdóttir and Alma D. Möller, the Medical Director of Health, signed an agreement Þorlákshöfn. Many residents were present, including town council members, staff, and representatives of Ölfus's HSAM steering group. Students in grades 5-7 at the elementary school Þorlákshöfn danced to the song of Júlí Heiðar, a musician and actor from Þorlákshöfn, which was created under the supervision of dance teacher Anna Berlind Júlídóttir. Representatives from local schools, sports clubs, healthcare, and senior citizens are members of the HSAM steering committee, and other stakeholders will be called on to work as needed. Jóhanna M. Hjartardóttir, Head of the Division of Family and Education, and Ragnar M. Sigurðsson, Head of Sports and Leisure, are the contact persons for HSAM in Ölfus.
