New housing for health care in upper countrysides of south Iceland

In light of changes and increase in population in the upper countrysides of South Iceland, the Healthcare Institution of South Iceland (HSU) has decided to relocate the healthcare operations to new and modern housing in the area.

Last year HSU advertised for a housing unit to house the HSU healthcare in the upper countrysides of South Iceland. Final decision was to enter into agreements with Hrunamannahreppur to rent a housing for the HSU healthcare in Flúðir. The moving offers numerous benefits for the community. It will be better to meet modern healthcare requirements. With better facilities and services, HSU ensures that the area’s healthcare services are consistently in accordance with the needs of residents.
The location of Flúðir also provides the basis for further service opportunities, including the possibility of opening a new pharmacy. The move will also contribute to improved cooperation with rescue teams and other emergency responders based in Flúðir, which is important for the safety and well-being of the population.
This step is part of the HSU policy to ensure that residents in the upper countrysides of South Iceland have access to health care that meets the needs of the modern age. By moving the health care to Flúðir, HSU is not only improving the facilities of the health care, but also creating a strong foundation for the future development of HSU health care in the upper countrysides of South Iceland.
The transfer of health care is planned for spring 2025 and a much more detailed timeline will be announced when the time is closer.
