Monkeypox

Yesterday, a fourth individual was diagnosed with monkeypox in Iceland. This is a middle-aged male and it appears that it is a domestic infection from a previously unknown carrier. Contact tracing is in progress. The person is in good health and is in isolation at home.

No vaccines or antiviral drugs have yet been delivered to the country, but the latest news from the European Union is that the first shipment is expected within weeks.

Around 3,000 people have been diagnosed with monkeypox in Europe this year and serious illness is rare.
