Hundreds attended Connecting the State 2024
There was great interest in the conference Connecting the State this year, which took place on 26 September at Hilton Nordica and through streaming.
There was great interest in the conference this year that had the theme of Change Management, with a special focus on the implementation of digital services and processes. About 500 people attended the conference and about 150 watched online streaming. Dave Rogers, Liz Whitfield, and Sara Bowley were key speakers at this year’s conference, but they have all participated in and made great progress in different and major digital transformation projects in the British administration.
There were also a number of interesting talks from organizations that have had great success in their digital journeys and digital services. These include presentations from The Icelandic Transport Authority, Iceland Health, the Social Insurance Administration, the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health, and on the project For Grindavík where the core services that first responders could use at Digital Iceland were reviewed.
The conference program concluded with Digital Steps of the Institutions, where recognition was given to those institutions that have made digital leaps during the year in collaboration with Digital Iceland. The Icelandic Transportation Authority and the Icelandic Health Insurance were called to the stage with a full house score of 9 steps, but before the District Commissioners had achieved that. Credits were also given to those institutions that have taken 7 and 8 steps. Further information on the recipients of this year’s Digital Steps can be found in the news about Digital Steps of the Institutions 2024.
On the morning of the conference, four workshops were held on service, tech and development, Ísland.is website and the benefits of digital projects. The workshops were extremely well attended and an important contribution to the digital development that is lies ahead.
Connecting the State is the annual conference of Digital Iceland, where the digital future of the public sector is the topic.
