Transfer of a legal domicile to Iceland can only be registered by coming in person to either a Registers Iceland office, located in Reykjavík and Akureyri or to the District Police Commissioners office in the municipality in which you reside, and presenting a valid legal ID (Passport, Icelandic driver‘s license or Travel ID). All those who move to the country need to identify themselves in person, children of primary school age and adults.
Please note that a change of address must be registered within 7 days of arrival in Iceland.
