Evaluation of higher education

If you have completed a university education from a foreign university, you can request to have your studies recognised by the ENIC-NARIC office.

What can be recognised?

  • Academic higher education

  • Single credits completed at the tertiary level

  • Micro-credentials from recognised universities

  • Post-secondary non-tertiary education

What do we not evaluate?

  • Single courses without course assessment

  • Language proficiency

Supporting documents with the application

  • A copy of the academic diplomas and academic transcripts in their original language in pdf. form

  • Diploma supplement, if possible

  • English or Icelandic translation of graduation certificate and transcript

  • Confirmation of name change, if applicable, e.g. marriage certificate

Cost

There is no fee for the evaluation of academic studies

Process of application

  • You submit an application to the ENIC-NARIC office through the application portal.

  • When we receive the application, you will receive a confirmation email.

  • The application is registered in the application system

  • If necessary, further documentation is requested.

  • Processing of applications may take several weeks.

  • An answer is sent as a pdf. document to the e-mail address you give in your application.

Evaluation result

  • No appeal can be lodged against the conclusion, as the ENIC/NARIC office provides only advisory statements.

  • You can request further reasoning or ask for a closer examination of a case if you suspect something has passed the inspectors.
