    Conditions for the examination

    In order to be admitted to an examination, in writing or in practical terms, various conditions must be met, such as valid permission for an examination by a district commissioner, that the program is in accordance with regulations and the curriculum guide and that the required age is met. Before commencing an examination, the external examiner shall check the credentials of the examinee. Where a driving training requirement is made, a driving study book shall also be checked, if driving training is not in accordance with the rules, an exemption shall be made available from the Icelandic Transportation Authority. If a driving instructor or an examiner requests an exemption from the rules on driving tests, the driving instructor shall address the matter, with explanations of the reasons, to the Directorate of Transport for its consideration.
