Key concepts related to web traffic

Bouncerate (or dropout rate) is a measurement that shows the percentage of visitors who leave the relevant site after visiting only one site, without doing anything else. The percentage gives an indication of the quality of visits - high dropout rates can indicate that users do not find what they are looking for or that the content does not appeal to them.

Unique visitors (individual users): The number of individual users visiting your website in a given period. Each user is counted only once, regardless of how often he visits the site. Indicates the actual coverage of the website and the size of the audience

Page views (page views): The total number of times a page on your website is viewed. If one user visits 5 pages, it counts as 5 page views, but if a user visits the same page twice, it counts as 2 page views. Measurement of overall usage and functionality of the website

Top sources tell us where users are coming from on a site:

  • Organic Search: Users that find you through search engines (Google, Bing, etc.)

  • Direct: Users who enter the URL directly or use bookmarks

  • Referral: Traffic from other websites that refer to your site

  • Social: Traffic from social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X

Event is a term used for an event or action that a user performs on the web, such as clicking on a button, signing up, playing a video or downloading a page.
