The owner must pay a planning fee, 0,3% of the fire insurance value, when a building has been built.
This fee is intended for municipalities to cover land planning costs.
In the capital area the planning fee is collected by the Iceland Revenue and Customs, but outside the capital the local District Commissioner (Sýslumaður) will handle the collection.
