Grants from the Energy Fund
The Energy Fund will call for applications for grants to purchase clean energy buses in December 2024.
The Energy Fund regularly calls for applications for grants for projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Priorities are determined at each time by the Fund’s Board of Directors.
Grants for purchasing clean energy buses (categories M2 and M3 at the Icelandic Transport Authority)
The Energy Fund is advertising grants for purchasing clean energy buses:
Clean energy buses (M2 or M3) for public transport, the maximum grant is 30 million ISK.
Clean energy bus (M2 or M3) for tourism (e.g. buses), the maximum grant is 15 million ISK.
Conditions and terms
The vehicles eligible for funding shall be accessible to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility and be designed and equipped with the aim of ensuring such accessibility.
Contractual services must be available in the case of buses.
The grants are 33% of the purchase price (without VAT) and are maximum ISK 30 million per bus and ISK 15 million per bus.

Note that when applying for grants for more than one bus, a separate application has to be submitted for each.
