Cancellation of divorce

Couples can request that the legal effect of a divorce be canceled by completing this request (in Icelandic).

With the registration of a joint legal domicile, the legal effects of divorce are null and void, and the parties are remarried in the national register.

If there has been a change in the custody of the parties' child during a divorce, i.e. if one of the parents has sole custody of the child after the divorce, custody will again be shared.
