Coastal fishing starts tomorrow, May 2nd, and the Directorate of Fisheries would like to draw attention to the rules applicable for fishing days and the catch counting for regional quotas in coastal fishing.
Remotely Piloted Aircrafts will be used for monitoring by the Directorate of Fisheries in May and we would like to ask fishermen to keep in mind that all recordings are carefully examined and fish that goes overboard is species analyzed.

Applications for coastal fishing permits were opened last week and already we have received applications for over 200 vessels.
The exchange market opens tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th of April 2024 at 14:00. The deadline for submitting tenders is until 14:00 on Wednesday the 1st of May 2024.

The Allocation is 355 tons.
According to regulation, the Directorate of Fisheries will increase the number of days for vessels that are fishing for lumpfish or have yet to go lumpfish fishing.

The Directorate of Fisheries in Borgir, Akureyri is temporarily closed.
Ban on bottom trawl fishing at Berufjarðarálshorn will take effect today, 18th of April, at 12:00 and will expire at 12:00 on 2nd of May 2024.
