University Education

The Event Management program is a short but practical program suitable for everyone. The program spans one semester and consists of 60 ECTS credits. In event management, you learn to plan, finance, and manage both large and small events from start to finish. Whether you're organizing a leadership meeting, a music festival, a sports event, a conference, a wedding, or a birthday celebration, event management skills are invaluable. Event management is useful in establishing your own companies, working for private companies, institutions, and local governments. The program blends the latest in event management from the real world and online. Thus, the program combines practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

A student can add event management on top of previous education and thus specialize and enhance their knowledge needed in their field, and/or use the new diploma as a stepping stone into further education. Event management is credited within the BA programs at Hólar University College, where a student can then start the BA program in the second year after completing event management.

The program is conducted through distance learning, with students expected to attend sessions two times per semester. Otherwise, students can manage their studies within the framework of each course's schedule. Students typically take three courses simultaneously throughout the study period. Four out of five courses within each semester span half a semester (6-7 weeks), while one course extends throughout the entire semester. It is possible to pursue the program alongside work commitments.
