The aims of the programme is to promote knowledge in the particular subject of Landscape architecture • To enhance research in Iceland which will support and contribute to the developement ofthe work of landscape architects, and spatial planners.
To meet the needs of the public and private sectors for scientific staff in this field.
The programme emphasises to the connection between Man – Nature and Form. The courses in the field af natural science , planning and design are linked together in lectures, project and field works.
The courses are basic courses that are common with other programms, as ecology, dendrology, geology and GIS, and a specialized courses.
The special emphasis are given to courses in design, free-hand drawing, planning, social and cultural history, the planning of open spaces, landscape analyses, national heritage, garden construction and environmental psychology.
The course provides students with basic scientific principles, thorough-going knowledge, tecniques and methods, as well as new technologies, which will contribute to the ralation to the private sector
The students should also be able to cooperate with others both within and outside the academic limits and with general public. Project are usually worked individually and in groups The aims of the program are in accordance with The Common Education platform 2004 in EFLA ( European Foundation for Landscape Architecture))
