Norovirus: A Common Cause of Stomach Upset

Recently, there have been several reports of stomach upset among groups traveling within Iceland, including at popular tourist destinations in the highlands. In some of these cases, norovirus has been confirmed as the cause.

Mpox declared a public health emergency of international concern for a second time

WHO’s Director-General declared mpox a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) for the second time in 2 years, following an upsurge in new and concerning cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and several neighbouring countries, including the emergence of a new strain – called clade 1b – which appears to be more severe than clade 2, which has been circulating in Europe since 2022.

Investigation of an outbreak in South Iceland - First results

On August 7th the Health Inspectorate in South Iceland received a report that a group of individuals who had stayed at Rangárvellir in South Iceland in late July had subsequently developed symptoms of gastrointestinal infection.
