Erasmus+ call 2026 in open
The European Union has announced the application deadlines for Erasmus+ that will be available in 2026. In total, the National Agency in Iceland will be able to allocate over 16 million euros for mobility and cooperation in the fields of education, youth, and sports during the year.
This is the sixth time that Erasmus+ has been opened for applications during the current programme period, and this time the National Agency will be able to fund projects amounting to just over 12.5 million euros in the education sector of Erasmus+ and 4 million euros in the youth sector. The call concerns applications for mobility projects, which support students, teachers, staff, and young people in gaining experience and knowledge abroad. It also covers applications for cooperation projects, which bring together institutions and organisations in different countries to promote innovation and address the four priority areas: inclusion, sustainability, digitalisation, and active participation in society.
Erasmus+ aims to support participating countries in building a European Education Area and fulfilling the EU Youth Strategy until 2027, based on shared European values such as human rights, freedom, and democracy. For the upcoming call year, the connection of Erasmus+ with the Union of Skills and the Preparedness Union Strategy is also emphasised. The priorities of cooperation projects have also been simplified and harmonised between target groups.
The main novelty of this call year is a new project type in the school sector: European Partnerships for School Development. This is a new initiative where educational authorities and schools across Europe can join forces to share good practices and develop innovative teaching methods, with the aim of strengthening lifelong learning for teachers, increasing the attractiveness of the teaching profession, and improving the overall quality of teaching and learning.
The staff of the Erasmus+ National Agency in Iceland encourages applicants to familiarise themselves thoroughly with the available funding opportunities. Special attention is drawn to the Agency’s recommendations regarding the selection of project partners. It should also be noted that individual institutions may take part in up to 10 applications for cooperation partnerships and up to five applications for small-scale partnerships, though this does not apply to the higher education sector.
We also encourage applicants to familiarise themselves with the Agency’s inclusion strategy, incorporate inclusion into their projects, and remember that it is possible to apply for inclusion support for various aspects to ensure equal access to projects.
Those who have questions about the application process are strongly encouraged to call or email the relevant project manager. Applicants are also encouraged to participate in the various information events that the National Agency will be hosting around the country and online in the coming weeks and months.
Application forms will be made available on the Erasmus+ portal shortly, and it is possible to preview their content on the European Commission’s website.
