Apply for a permit for a fireworks display

Firework Show Permit

Applicants must be granted for licences to hold fireworks displays. The party responsible for the pyrotechnic display shall ensure compliance with the conditions and the law.

If a bonfire of over 100 cubic meters and a firework display are being held at the same time, a work permit must be applied for at the same time to the relevant health committee.

Health boards or health checks shall be sought in the area where the burning is to take place.

Application

The application must include a statement of

  • responsible party

  • the launch manager

  • location, date and time

  • aerial view of the venue

  • licence from the landowner, if applicable

It must be ensured, among other things, that:

  • Noise needs to be minimised.

  • Caution must be exercised in the vicinity of areas with rich birdlife.

  • The weather conditions must be taken into consideration and the police shall comply with the recommendations in this regard.

  • Fireworks displays must be monitored continuously and fire management and protection from greenery must be ensured.

  • The area that was the subject of the fireworks display must be cleaned and all firework waste deposited at an approved reception centre.

Fireworks shall not be launched

  • after 23:00 working days

  • after 24:00 on weekends

  • near protected areas or water protection areas except with special permit

Cost

A registration fee must be paid, which varies between municipalities. It will be collected by the health authority.
