Permit to operate a travel agency

A travel agent is a person, whether natural or legal, who organizes, organises, offers and/or sells packages or mediates the sale of a business combination travel arrangement, either on its own initiative or at the request of a customer, domestically or abroad.

A permit is required to operate a travel agency. Applications must be made at least two months before the planned operations are to begin. The issued permit is indefinite.

The sale of package tours and co-connected paternity arrangements is subject to insurance. Anyone selling package tours and co-connected travel arrangements must have insurance for such sales. The amount of insurance is recalculated annually.

Application for authorisation

Applications for a permit to operate a travel agency are of two types, one for legal persons and one for individuals.

  • Please note that if you apply in the name of a company, the company's proxy holder must apply, but information on proxy registration can be obtained from the Directorate of Taxes.
