Claim for reimbursement from the Travel Insurance Fund
Individuals and legal entities who have paid for a trip with a travel agency that goes bankrupt can submit a claim to the Travel Insurance Fund.
Travellers can make a claim to the Travel Insurance Fund for package travel or linked travel arrangements that are not performed in accordance with the contract if:
The travel agency is insolvent and or bankrupt.
The travel agency's license has been revoked by the Icelandic Tourist Board.
The fund's refunds only cover payments made by the traveller for a package travel or linked travel arrangement.

Processing time
The processing time for submitted claims is generally three months after the deadline for filing claims has passed but may take longer depending on the scope and number of claims.
