Connecting the state 2022

Connecting the State is a conference on the digital future of the Icelandic government and will take place in Harpa on 22 September 2022 from 13-17.

The key speaker this year will be Kevin Cunnington former UK director of GDS (Government Digital Services), one of the leaders in the digital development of the public sector in the UK. Kevin Cunnington will lead us through a new study that explores what digital leaders need to succeed and the main obstacles for institutions to digital journeys. Then we get a message from Dr.Silvija Seres, who specializes in digital transformation. A more detailed schedule will be announced in the coming days. Registration is open - and there is already a waiting list in the room, although there is plenty of space available for streaming.

Application for the sale of alcohol at small breweries

This summer, a digital application was opened for a license to sell alcohol at the production site. 15 breweries have applied, and all have digitally opened the digital application simultaneously as the law entered into force. The application is serviced by the District Commissioners.

Confirmation of deth digital

District Commissioners have been working on improving the settlement of estates with the comfort of the family members as a guide. The process now begins with an electronic notification of death sent by the Medical Director of Health to the District Commissioners. A family member receives both a death notice in his/her digital mailbox at Ísland.is and can fill in the information needed in a digital form. To date, family members have had to gather all documents and come to the District Commissioners. The process is intended to facilitate the delivery of information to the District Commissioners and is as a part of the overall improvement of the estate's processing.

Iceland Payment System Welcomed

A payment system was added to the application system of Ísland.is at the end of last year, where users can pay for public services at Ísland.is. There are currently 31 service processes at Ísland.is that require payments. In the period January to July, 13,794 payments were made through payment systems, or 53% of payments.
