Vehicle inspection

All vehicles carrying registration plates with an inspection label have to be inspected regularly

The responsibility for taking vehicles to be examined lies:

• with a registered keeper, if the vehicle has him/her

• otherwise the owner is responsible for this.

Inspection time

An adhesive label on the vehicle number plate (inspection label) indicates the next inspection year.

Last digit of the vehicle number plate indicates the month of inspection:

• 1 is January

• 2 is February

• 0 is October

• letter is May

Premises, motor caravans, mobile wagons (campaigns, pop-up trailers and caravans) and all motorcycles should be subject to:

• May.

You can take the vehicle to inspection:

• 6 months before the inspection month and up to 2 months after the inspection month.

• at any time, for the month of inspection (within a calendar year) if the vehicle was fully inspected before 1 November of the previous year.

After that you will have to pay .

Special deadline for inspection

No time limit for moving a vehicle to be inspected can be had, except if the owner of a vehicle:

• lives more than 80 kilometres from the nearest inspection centre and has not had the opportunity to move the vehicle to inspection within the time limit

then the owner can have an additional period of 2 months by filling in . The request must have been received before the deadline for the vehicle inspection.

Cancelled inspection that has begun

Initiated inspection may be cancelled. The inspection body shall notify the Directorate of Transport of the reasons for the cancellation of the inspection and take possible measures.

Result of inspection

After the inspection, you will receive a certificate of inspection. This includes the results of support which may be:

• without comments

• restoration

• review

• driving ban

Deadline for review

If comments are made on an inspection, the deadline is set for:

• correct the comments

• to review the vehicle, e.g. at

A deadline is always set for the end of the next month.

It is important to arrange the use of the vehicle in accordance with the results of the inspection until complete repairs have been carried out.

Extension of the review period

Before the revision deadline is issued, the inspection body may extend the deadline by 30 days if

• spare parts cannot be supplied for the repair of a vehicle, or

• time cannot be obtained for a vehicle in a workshop for repair.
