Payments cancelled

Disability pension payments are cancelled:

  • when a person reaches the age of 67, the rights to old age pension take effect, no special application is necessary when you go from disability pension to old age pension,

  • if a person moves to a country that does not have a contract with Iceland on international pension rights,

  • when you start living in a residential or a nursing home ,

  • if hospital stay has totalled 180 days in the last 12 months, of which the stay must have been continuous for 30 days at the end of the period,

  • if a person is sentenced to prison or escapes from serving a sentence,

  • if a person is deemed to be in custody or otherwise deemed to be staying in an institution, all payments to him or her by TR will be cancelled after four consecutive months of detention or stay,

  • after admission to a healthcare institution for more than one year.

You may be entitled to disposable income payments if payments are cancelled due to your stay in an institution.
