P-card, parking card for persons with reduced mobility

Application for P-card

Persons with reduced mobility may be entitled to a parking card (P-sign) for persons with reduced mobility, in order to park in a specially marked outdoor parking space (P-park) which should be near to places of access for persons to receive services, such as public institutions and shops. The parking cards are issued for a maximum period of 10 years and minimum period of 6 months.

Application process

A doctor confirms the need for a parking card and sends a medical certificate electronically to the District Commissioners. This applies both to initial applications, as well as to renewals. After that, you enter your application with an electronic identification and fill in an application for a parking card.

The applicant must select:

  • whether an image is retrieved from the drivers license on file or a new one is uploaded

  • whether to send the card home or to the selected District Commissioners offices

Processing time

The processing time is 3 to 5 working days by mail. 1 to 3 days if you pick the card up at any of the District Commissioners offices. The application can be accessed after it is submitted, on My pages at Ísland.is.
