Permission to administer NPA

User-led personal assistance (NPA) means that the user, the beneficiary, is in charge of the journey and the service is intended for persons with disabilities who require assistance in their daily lives.

NPA assistance

aims at independent lives for disabled people who need ongoing assistance and services to participate in

  • activities of daily life

  • housekeeping

  • social life

  • study

  • employment

When the user organises and directs the assistance himself/herself, the possibilities for

  • to live a more independent and active life

  • manage the journey and do what he needs and wants to do

  • flexible assistance

If a user has difficulty with this, he/she has the right to get help with organising it.

Licence to manage NPA services

The objective of managing NPA service is to ensure that disabled people have access to the best assistance/services that can be provided at any given time to meet their special support needs.

Supporting documents with application

  • Consent for acquiring the applicant's criminal record certificate

  • Applicants CV

  • Confirmation of having completed an initial and postgraduate course in NPA with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour

  • Operational plan

  • Risk assessment plan from Vinnumálastofnun
