Minimum professional requirements

Health service operators must meet certain minimum professional requirements to be allowed to operate in health services, and there must be confirmation from the Directorate of Health to that effect before starting operations.
Information in the notification of the proposed health services operation is the prerequisite for the Directorate of Health to assess whether it can be confirmed that the operation is considered to meet minimum professional requirements.

Professional minimum requirements for the operation of health services are discussed in IV. section of the regulation on the Medical Director of Health´s supervision of health services operations and minimum professional requirements (Icelandic). According to the regulation, the Directorate of Health sets out minimum professional requirements regarding housing, facilities, devices, equipment, and employment.
