Driving assessment

Before issuing a permanent licence, a driver shall undergo a driving assessment with a driving instructor.

The driver himself or herself determines which driving instructor shall handle the driving assessment for him or her and pays the driving instructor for the assessment in accordance with his or her tariff.

What is driving assessment

The driving assessment examines whether the driver's assessment of his own driving performance, driving behavior and safety in traffic is in accordance with his real ability. The objective of driving assessment is to make the driver aware of his ability and ability in traffic with regard to road safety.

How the driving assessment is carried out

  1. Assessment of own roadworthiness and safety in traffic.

  2. A ride with a driving instructor. The driving instructor shall determine a part of the route and a part shall be determined by the driver.

  3. The driver evaluates his own driving, what could have been done better and what was going well.

  4. Driving instructors provide feedback.

Driving evaluation is expected to take 50 minutes, of which 30 minutes are driven and processing and concluding 15 minutes where the driver and the driving instructor discuss how to improve the safety of the driver.

Driving assessment result

Following the assessment of driving, the driving instructor can confirm the execution electronically. Driving evaluation cannot be dropped. Once a driving instructor has confirmed a driving evaluation, the driver can apply for a permanent license.
