Experience requirements for basic rating

To obtain a "C" basic rating for complex motor-powered aircraft:

  • Demonstrate three years of experience in issuing a certificate of release to service (CRS) and/or working as support staff in category B1. 1, B1. 3 or B2 on large Part-145 aircraft.

  • Demonstrate five years of experience in issuing a certificate of release to service (CRS) and/or working as support staff in category B1. 2 or B1. 4 on large aircraft under Part-145.

To obtain a "C" basic rating for aircraft other than complex motor-powered aircraft:

  • Demonstrate three years of experience in issuing a Part-145 certificate of release to service and/or support staff of category B1 or B2

To prove experience, you must register it. The Directorate of Communications has published logbook(pdf) which can be used to record experiences.
