Medical Physicist, Department of Radiotherapy at Landspitali University Hospital of Iceland
We are looking for a Medical Physicist to join our physics team at the Department of Radiotherapy at Landspítali University Hospital in Reykjavík, Iceland.
The Department of Radiotherapy at Landspitali is the only facility of its kind in Iceland, treating approximately 1,000 patients per year with two Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators. As demand in Iceland for radiotherapy continues to grow, the department is well-positioned for expansion in the coming years, making this an opportunity to join at an exciting time in our development.

We are looking for an ambitious medical physicist who takes initiative and thrives in a team-oriented workplace.
The position is available from September 1st, 2026, or by agreement.

Key responsibilities
Participation in or oversight of treatment planning and treatment preparation
Dosimetry and quality assurance of linear accelerators, CT simulator, and associated equipment
Implementation of new technology and development of clinical workflows
Clinical collaboration with physicians, radiation therapists, and other team members
Participation in research or development projects as relevant
Other specialised tasks within the department's scope of work

Qualifications
MSc in Medical Physics preferred; MSc in Physics required
Experience and knowledge in radiation therapy and medical imaging is an advantage
Proficiency in English and a willingness to learn Icelandic is required
Prior knowledge of Icelandic is an advantage but not a requirement
Excellent communication skills, ambition, and the ability to prioritise and work independently are required

Further information about the position and application:
Salary according to the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant professional union.
This is a full-time position with regular daytime hours, Monday to Friday. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for QA measurements or equipment-related tasks.
Landspítali provides Icelandic language classes for employees.
