Privacy policy

When using the Ferðagjöf app, information regarding the SSN (kennitala), phone number and email address of the user are registered in a database owned by the Ministry of Industry and Innovation. The information will be used to give overview of the usage and distribution of the gift while the gift is valid according to the law on Ferðagjöf from the 12th of June, 2020. The information stored in the database will only be used by the ministry to verify the usage of the Travel Gift.

The registering of information in the database and usage of them in the app are in accordance with the laws on Ferðagjöf, as well as the EEA rules on state aid, and are based on the 3rd and 5th paragraph of article 9 in Act 90/2018 on Data Protection and the Processing of Personal data.

The Ministry of Industry and Innovation, Skúlagata 4, 101 Reykjavík, is the responsible party when it comes to the processing of personal data in connection to Ferðagjöf. The database is owned by the ministry and the ministry is responsible for its data. The database is however hosted by YAY ehf.
