Those who have worked in Iceland in at least 25% of the work, continuous for the last 6 months before the date of birth of the child, as an employed or self-employed person, are entitled to parental leave.

Maternity allowance is for parents in full-time education and those who are outside the labor market or in less than 25% of their work.
