A gift to the health care in Vopnafjörður

29th February 2024

Gjöf Vopnafjörður

The health care center in Vopnafjörður received a gift on the day in memory of Öda Tryggvadóttir, who was the first nurse at the health care center in Vopnafjörður and died after a sudden illness at the age of 41.

On November 20th 2022, it was 20 years since Adda died and in her memory, her family decided to walk 500km and collect her vowels. The proceeds were then used to buy a multifunction chair that is electrically driven and can be stepped with one button, which is useful for example if a person gets a blood pressure drop, but then it is quickly possible to react. The chair can be raised to work height and adjusted to a comfortable position for the client, but it is primarily used for medication, blood collection/decoupling and in a change room. There is a lot of satisfaction with the chair, which has completely different work conditions and is therefore useful in the healthcare center in Vopnafjörður.

The donation will be of great benefit to the institution and HSA thankes Ödd’s family for their initiative and generous donation, along with all those who supported the collection with their contributions.

The following are pictured: Dr. Baldur, nurse Steinunn, Úlfur Aðalbjörn (Adda’s granddaughter), Urður (the daughter-in-law), Bjartur (son), Aðalbjörn (Adda’s husband) and Guðjón, CEO of HSA.
